Helle Hochscheid lectures in antiquity and heritage at University College Roosevelt, one of the honours colleges of Utrecht University. Her teaching and research revolve around ancient craft practices and the meaning of making in societies ancient and modern.

In particular, she is interested in how the ancient Greeks perceived the contributions of craftspeople to religious contexts such as temple precincts and burial grounds. Helle is an advisory board member of Theran Press and co-founder of the ancient sculpture association.
